S2 methodology was built on ‘squads’ and has a proven success in accelerating development faster than any other squash program in the U.S.
Our “squads” are routinely called “the best clinics around” for two reasons — they offer ultimate flexibility from a scheduling standpoint and the actual squad design (see below). We welcome ages 8-18 from Bronze-JCT standard. Please be aware, a ‘minimum standard’ evaluation process will be conducted individually and in a ‘squad’ setting prior to acceptance.
With 14 courts and 30-40 kids in attendance, our squads are the core of our program, and specifically unique to S2. The challenge rotations ensure that our athletes are challenged for both skill and level — not by age alone, which differentiates our program and allows athletes to always be challenged at the right level.
With squads running 7 days a week, our athletes love the flexibility of picking and choosing the dates/times right for them, without locking in days or times far in advance. This gives our athletes maximum leeway to appropriately manage their demanding academic workloads, extracurricular activities, or other sport requirements that may change from week to week — without having to sacrifice their squash training.
Squads provide the missing link between private lessons and tournament play and offer match play specific technical and tactical rehearsal to be conducted and refined, prior to entering tournament play. Our coaches will outline the S2 curriculum and playbook progressions, which then links directly to our squad training. Squads allow for the principle of Deliberate Practice to be developed, as quality and guided repetitions of the various skills are rehearsed, alongside profiling and enhancing squash specific fitness. The squad motto is ‘quality over duration’ and they run for intensive 75-90 minute sessions.
